WETMORE – Dr. Augustus Philip Lapham, Jr., 86, of Wetmore, died late Thursday, Jan. 18, 1990, at the Holton Hospital.
Dr. Lapham practiced dentistry most of his life in Wetmore. He was retired.
He was born Nov. 25, 1903, in Wetmore, the son of Augustus Philip Lapham, Sr. and Thursa Elzina Brown Lapham. He was graduated from Wetmore High School, the University of Kansas City School of Dentistry, and Kansas City Western Dental College.
Dr. Lapham was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wetmore. He was a life member of the Kansas Dental Association and the American Dental Association. He was a member of Goff Lodge No. 430, AF&AM, the Topeka Consistory of Scottish Rite and the Arab Shrine in Topeka. He was also a member of Grand Lodge, AF&AM, of Kansas.
He was married to Ruth Pinder on May 23, 1928, in Topeka. She survives.
Masonic services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Wetmore Cemetery. Dr. Lapham will lie in state after noon today until service time Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holton Hospital in care of the Kansas State Bank, Wetmore 66550.
