- Mabel S. Burgess, age 91, of Reedsburg, died peacefully on Monday, June 12, 2006, at the Sauk County Health Care Center following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on July 4, 1914, in the Town of LaValle, Sauk County, the daughter of Frank and Blanche (Schilling) Decot. She was the leader in her family being the eldest of 13 children.
Mabel was married to Kenneth Burgess, of LaValle, on Feb. 3, 1917. Although they had no children of their own, they helped raise their niece, from a young age.
Mabel was a devoted Hankscraft employee from Sept. 12, 1963, until her retirement on Dec. 15, 1981. She was a faithful member of the Advent Christian Church in LaValle.
