    • HASSELL-MAW (H. CoU.). Quarterly, 1 and 4, or, two bars ermine between three martlets in pale sable, on a chief gules a lion passant guardant of the field between two roses argent, barbed and seeded proper (for Maw) ; 2 and 3, vert, three adders erect argent, in the centre chief point a crescent or (for Hassell).
      Mantling sable and or. Crests — 1. on a %vreath of the colours, in front of a camel's head proper, three roses fessewise as in the arms (Maw) ; 2. on a wxeath of the colours, a dexter arm erect, vested gules, cuffed argent, and charged with a crescent or, the hand holding a branch of laurel proper (Hassell).
      Mottoes — (1) " Cura mihi futvuri " (Maw); (2) " Haec manus oh patriam " (Hassell).
      Only son and heir of Isaac Tetlow Maw, Gentleman, of Knedlington, Yorks., h. 1835 ; d. 1889 ; m. 1873,

      [Mr. Hassell-Maw is the last male descendant of Francis Maw, Gentleman, of Aldwark House, York, who died 1846, Pedigree recorded from circa 1620 to date, showing descent from James Maw, of Thornton Dale, CO. York, and his wife Magdalen, dau. of John Hassell, and grand-daughter of Ralph Hassell, of Thornton Dale, co. Yorks. (vide Vn. Yorks. 1665)].
