    • Sam owned and farmed 60 acres at Woodhall Farm, Carrhouse, Belton (1962). He faced jail for one month in March 1962 for not paying the drainage rates on his land, appearing before Epworth Magistrates. He was ordered to pay £40.30 to the West Axholme Drainage and 28 days in prison (source newspaper cutting)
