      -----------------------------

Robert John Roberts better known as John was born September 11, 1928, in Madison, Wisconsin. John passed away January 8, 2014, at Enloe Hospital with family at his side. He was the twin brother of Susan Righetti. He had two older brothers Rodney (deceased) and Macolm.

John was raised in Oakland, CA, later served in the Coast Guard, and then graduated from Cal Berkeley in 1954. He was a member of Kappa Delta Rho fraternity. His career focus was in sales and marketing; he retired from Commerce Clearing House, where he sold tax law products.

He met his wife of 58 years, Nancy Bramkamp Roberts, on a blind date. They were married in Carmichael, CA, on June 26, 1955. Together they raised four children who survive him with his wife, namely: Leslie (wife, Pia), Kevin, Janet (husband, John Garza), and Richard (wife, Silvana). He is survived by four grandchildren.

Settling in Chico, John was active in the community. He was elected to serve on the C.A.R.D. board and on the Butte County Republican Central Committee. He was a member of Lions Club for 20 years and a life member of Chico Elks. He was involved in S.I.R.S. #63. He was a gregarious man who could talk with anyone and he said hello to everyone he passed by. John was the friendliest and most sincere person you would meet.

Family memories of John include his love of the outdoors and backpacking with his sons, 20 years of travel with his wife in their RV all over America, ghost towns in the American West, and gold mining with his brother and children. His daughter shared his love for all animals, which she brought home. John was the "cool" uncle all the family cousins flocked around, he lived to spend time with his children and grandchildren because he liked to have fun and adventure or just walking and spending time with them. His children always had friends at the house because John took interest in them and would be hurt if he did not meet them. His children's friends looked forward to coming over and visiting with "Pops".

His family especially give thanks to Kevin (his son) for all the compassionate care he gave his dad during his final years. There will be no services. Any donations may be made to a favorite charity.
