- Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) - April 4, 1999. Deceased Name: Obituary: Earl L. Maw. Devoted husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather and friend, Earl L. Maw, age 87, passed away April 3, 1999 in Salt Lake City. Born Feb. 19, 1912 in Salt Lake City to Robert Maw Jr. and Mary Victoria Johnson. Married Rhea Boyce in the Salt Lake LDS Temple May 3, 1935. C.L.U. for Equitable Life Assurance Society where he worked for 70 years. He was a lifelong member of the LDS Church and held many positions including Bishop of the 18th Ward for 10 years. Member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers and the Ensign Peak Commemorative Committee. Earl was a man of great integrity who loved knowledge and devoted his life to serving others. He loved life and enjoyed people, music, books, the outdoors and athletic activities. He was a kind and generous man who will be missed by all who knew him.
Survived by: wife; children: Robert (Helene) Maw of Kamas, UT; J. Stephan (Grace) Maw of Brea, CA; Bruce (Carol) Maw of SLC; Carolyn (Charles) Morgan of St. Louis, MO; Roger (Sylvia) Maw of SLC; Susan (Michael) Mackintosh of Mesa, AZ; George (Suzanne) Maw of SLC; Christine Calder (Carlton Ensign) of SLC; 29 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Clarence Maw, Lois Maw, Harold Maw, Ruth Taylor, and Ivan Maw. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 6th, at 1 p.m. in the LDS 18th Ward Chapel, 135 "A" Street. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East So. Temple, Monday 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church, Tuesday, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humanitarian Aid Fund c/o LDS Church.
