| Obituary |
Jul 2002 |
Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, USA |
- Clarence V. Maw took his last breath at The Residence of CareSource on July 18, 2002.
Born September 17, 1910 to Robert Jr., and Victoria Maw in Salt lake City. He was raised in the Avenue area and graduated with the Class of 29' at West High. Employment included the Arms Defense Depot, Salt Lake City, and mechanic for the Utah State Road Dept., with his career being at PIE Trucking, as a machinist. He retired from PIE in 1975 after 30 years of service and was a lifetime member of the International Association of Machinist.
In 1934 Clarence married the love of his life, Catherine A. Clough (Lewis) and accepted her daughter, Virginia, as his own. He and his bride loved to travel the USA as well as Canada. Out of their love they produced Victor, Marilyn, and David. They taught their children about life by examples and discipline, with willingness to show the right way, whether it be easy or difficult. Clarence worked two jobs to have enough money for groceries and the house payment, with a small amount set aside to reward the children with small prizes for good behavior. Clarence always had a favorite nickname for all his children and as the grandchildren came along, he would come up with names for them as well. He enjoyed and was always willing to help friends, neighbors and relatives with their mechanical problems. He lost his loving bride of 54 years in 1989.
Preceded in death by his daughter (Virginia), two brothers, a son-in-law and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by two sons: Victor (Barbara) Maw, David (Bonnie) Maw, one daughter, Marilyn Adgar; one brother: Ivan Maw (Beryle); two sisters, Lois Maw and Ruth (Ben) Taylor. Clarence leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grand-children, four great-great-grand-children and many friends and neighbors who will miss him very much.
Graveside services will be held Monday July 22, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 7th Avenue "N" Street, in Salt Lake City, UT. Friends and family may call Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City.
We would like to thank the staff at CareSource for the tender loving care they gave to Clarence, with special thanks to Mindy and LeAnne, who we believe are truly angels.
