Gilstrap, Sr., died Saturday, July 2, 2005. Born February 22, 1917, in Central, SC, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Annie (Maw) Williams. A homemaker, she was a nurse at Dr. Peeks Hospital in Six Mile, SC, prior to retirement, a member of the Home Builders Association Auxiliary, a member of White Oak Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School class. Surviving in addition to her husband are her daughters, Venna Ann Howard (Philip) of Greenville, SC, Loretta Robinson (Donald) of Anderson, SC, and Regina Smith (Milton) of Greenville, SC; a son, Levis L. "Chip" Gilstrap Jr. (Julie) of Greenville, SC; seven grandchildren, Wendy H. Clarke (Keith), Kelly Howard, Zachary Smith, Jacob Smith, Brittney Gilstrap, Jameson Gilstrap, Kade Gilstrap; and two great-grandchildren, Hayden Clarke and Venna Shay Clarke. Services were held Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. at White Oak Baptist Church, 1805 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Greenville, with the Rev. Jim Bates officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to St. Francis Hospice, 414-A Pettigru St., Greenville, SC 29601 or Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605.
