Karen Ellis Burgess, 59, passed away Friday, May 22, 2015 at McKay-Dee Hospital. She was the strongest woman, who fought hard with every battle she faced.
She was born August 6, 1955 in Ogden, Utah to Loyd Ellis and Evelyn Maw.
On February 19, 1971, Karen married her best friend, Thomas Lee Burgess, in Ogden, Utah. They were later sealed forever together in the Temple.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in the Relief Society.
Karen was a loving and devoted daughter; she spent 15 years as the caregiver of her mother who passed away a year ago.
She enjoyed traveling, getting her nails done and her country music. She loved spending time with her family. She loved all of the Holidays, where she made many memories with everyone she knew.
Karen is survived by her husband, Tom Burgess; four sons, Troy (Jen) Burgess, Greenville, OH; Steven (Katie) Burgess, South Ogden, UT; Cody Burgess, Ogden, UT; Tommy (Aubrey) Burgess, Roy, UT; one daughter, Shelly (Daren) Layman, Roy, UT; 15 grandchildren, one great-grandchild on the way; one brother, Jim and three sisters, Stephanie, Charlotte, and Sharon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Brandy and one son, Jeremiah Lynn Burgess.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. The family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday May 29th and Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 at the mortuary.
Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park.
