Velda Maw Webb, of Spanish Fork, Utah, passed away on January 2, 2019 at her home surrounded by those she loved. She was born on November 28, 1938 in Ogden, Utah to Abram and Monna Maw.
Velda was raised on the family farm in Plain City, Utah along with 3 older sisters (Marilyn, Aline, and Dolores), and 1 older brother (Lionel). Though it was hard work, she always remembered life on the farm fondly and took pride in keeping a garden throughout her life.
Velda met and married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Herbert Seager, on October 27, 1956, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on February 6, 1958. Just over three years later they left Plain City so that Tom could pursue his work with IRS, first in Virginia, then in Georgia, next in Texas, and finally in Fresno CA. They lived and loved and worked hard together, until Tom died unexpectedly, leaving Velda a widow at the age of 34. During the next 14 years, she raised her 3 children (Dana, Brian, and Ed) on her own, forging strong and loving bonds that still endure among her children and all their extended families. To support her family she worked at IRS for more than 20 years.
On July 10, 1987, Velda married Donald Webb who had raised 5 children of his own (Mike, Merrilee, Melinda, Michelle, and Marc) with his first wife, Maurine. For the next 31 years, Velda and Don stayed close to and involved in the lives of all 8 children, and created many happy memories for their combined 27 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
Velda's life was an example of friendship, service, and faithfulness… even in times of trial. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, her testimony of Jesus Christ was evident in her many good works and friendships.
The family would like to especially thank Intermountain Healthcare hospice nurse, Margaret Talker, for her compassionate and knowledgeable help in caring for our mom.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019, at 3:00 pm at Aspen Meadows 1st Ward, 1661 South, 1400 East, in Spanish Fork, Utah. There will be a viewing at the same location on Sunday, January 6, from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm, and on January 7, from 1:45 pm – 2:45 pm. Funeral details are available at walkerspanishfork.com.
