- Robert George Rogers (1889-1945)
Insurance executive.
Born at Clearwater, Manitoba on 20 April 1889, son of Robert Rogers , he was educated at St. John's College <../organization/stjohns.shtml>, Upper Canada College (Toronto) and the University of Toronto. He returned to Winnipeg in 1910 and went into the insurance business. In World War One, he went overseas as a member of the Fort Garry Horse, serving as Aide-de-Camp to General Richard Turner at Canadian headquarters at London, returning to Winnipeg with the rank of captain.
On 7 October 1911, he married Evelyn Goodfellow Maw, daughter of Joseph Maw. They had four children: Robert, William, Joseph, and Mrs. Stewart Auer. He was a member of the Manitoba Club <../organization/manitobaclub.shtml>, St. Charles Country Club <../organization/stcharlescountryclub.shtml>, Lakewood Country Club , Carleton Club <../organization/carletonclub.shtml>, Royal Lake of the Woods Yacht Club, and Winnipeg Rowing Club. He played with the Victoria Hockey Club <../organization/victoriahockeyclub.shtml> and Victoria Rugby Club, and also served on the executive of the clubs.
He died at Winnipeg on 30 January 1945 and was buried in St. John's Cemetery.
