Maw A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver for Irene M. Maw, who died Jan. 7 of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at age 89. Irene M. Bertwell was born May 21, 1918, in Brunswick, Neb. A homemaker, she moved to Chelan, Wash., in the late 1930s and to Vancouver in 1940. In 1936, she married Glenn E. Maw; he died in 1971. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Sattem; son, Eugene; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Remembrances to Ray Hickey Hospice House. Oregonian, The (Portland, OR) - Friday, January 18, 2008 === May 21, 1918 ~ Jan. 7, 2008 Irene M. Maw passed away in Vancouver, WA on Jan. 7, 2008, age 89. She was born in Brunswick, NB on May 21, 1918 to William and Myrtle Bertwell. She and her husband moved from Nebraska shortly after marriage to live in Chelan area of eastern Washington. They both worked on farms and orchards in the area. In 1940, they made the move to the Vancouver area and Irene lived her until her death in 2008. She lived to take care of people, whether it was the elderly or babies. She was also a great baker, especially cookies. Irene is survived by a son, Eugene Maw; a daughter, Linda Sattem; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She is predeceased in death by her husband, Glenn E. Maw (1971) of 35 years; and her seven siblings. Memorial services will be held on Jan. 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Vancouver, WA. Donations may be made to the Ray Hickey Hospice House, 2112 E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver, WA 98661 in the name of Irene Maw.
